Bentolicious #163
The rabbit theme is still hoping around this blog. I made two rabbits popped up from the pea pods log. The rabbits were made of hand molded rice balls, dry yellow somen, nori, jelly balls, and white part of crab stick. Flowers were made of carrot and red part of crab stick. Filled the box with steam rice, strawberries, slice of lemon with chicken karaage, and veggie dumpling. I hope my kids won't ask me to buy rabbit as their pet after this. So far, none of their pets has lasted for more than 3 months. From fish (died), turtles (runaway), hamsters (get bored and gave them to a friend) ... So I don't think if we get any new pet will last long either. They asked me before for a puppy but I never said yes, so they get tired of asking. Perhaps later if they are bigger and are committed to take care the pet then I will say yes.

I think this is one of the most kawaii bento boxes I have seen so far ^^

@Rio : Thanks a lot Rio!

@Uniflame : Thanks a lot Cynni!

Veggie dumpling-nya kliatan enak mbak. Minta resepnya dong :)

@Sysyl : Thanks a lot Sysyl! Recipe for the skin >> 160gr rice flour, 2 tbsp tapioca flour, 1 tbsp tang mein (wheat starch), 900ml water, 1 tsp salt, 1 tbsp oil. Mixed all the ingredients and strained. You have to use steamer to make the skin, cool down before you put your filling :)

Ya ampun..lucu bgttt.. pengen belajar bikin karakter yg lucu2 nih.. foto2nya boleh dijadiin sample buat belajar ga? :) thanks ya..

@mama elaine : Silahkan Yuli ... Happy to share. Thanks a lot for your kind comment!

Your bentos always look fabulous! Love the carrot flowers! How did you make them?

Ah.. I have the same problem as you, but with plants. Terrible, my plants always die, no matter how much I care about them!

Anyways! Cute yellow bunnies! The flowers are so amazing! So beautiful! Tell me.. what "flavor" is the yellow somen? It is very interesting!
Gorgeous bento , yummy food ;)

@Jessica : Thanks a lot Jessica! I don't have the tutorial on how to make the carrot flowers on my blog. But you can hop to Megan's blog - Bento Zen to find the tutorial here.

@karaimame : Thanks a lot Lilian! My mom said that I don't have a 'cold hand' for plants and pets ... Oh well, too bad LOL :D The yellow somen tastes like a regular one, not so much different for me. The pink somen tastes sweeter and fragrance. The green one tastes like green tea but not too strong :)

This is a lovely and healthy bento. The duo bunnies are real cute. I must start to make some bentos after CNY....hmmm...I hope so..hihii.

so cute bento lunch!! I love to make it!!

@Anncoo : Thanks a lot Ann! Will be waiting for your bento after CNY ;)

@bento : Thanks a lot!

Amazing attention to detail!! Wow, blown away again.
We actually had 2 goldfish. We bought them when they were less than 2 inches long and put them in our backyard water fountain in our garden. And they grew.. then we tore away the fountain when K was born so she couldn't fall in and put the 2 goldfish in a tank inside the house. And they grew again. ALOT. They grew to about 6 inches in length and were rowdy, flapping the tank lid and always a big puddle of water when we got home. Almost ruined our wood floors. So.. I finally got fed up and carried them to the river.. and they happily swam away! lol. All this to say, no more pets for us. : ) Good luck on that with your kids.. they will keep pestering until they get another one. : )

I have yet to make something kawaii.... and you have had no trouble coming back to charaben! Now I can have your site to get ideas from, hehe!
Happy New Year bunnies are cute!

@Chantale : Thanks a lot Chantale! If we have pet again, definitely will need more love to keep them alive lol ... Problem is the kids get excited for a few weeks only and then their pet become mommy and daddy's pet. You know what I mean :D

@sherimiya : Thanks a lot Sheri! Lucky this year is the year of Rabbit, can't imagine if year of Dragon hahaha ... *faint* Rabbit is fun to make, I know you will come up with something great soon (^.^)

Yes, probably better to stick to pets in the bento box, no live ones. :) I really like the yellow and white rice combination for the bunnies. They look so happy!

@Sonoma Bento : hahaha ... or perhaps I just give them a pet doll, easy to take care :D Kids love the yellow rice from the fried egg rice and I can make 2 tones color bunnies. Got 2 benefits at the same time (^.^)

such adorable bunnies, like they are ready to hop out the box.. so real..haha..

Hope your kids will take that as their pets.

yup.. looking after pet is a huge responsibility.. should wait till they are bigger, if not its us who take care of the pet..hehe..

and we cant just leave them when we are going off for vacation. thats the problem.

The bunnies are sooo cute and the flower garden is sooo beeyooteeefoool :D. This bento is so "Lia Chen's" bento hehehe. I think the kids have already got so many cute pets through cute bentos made by their mom ;D

@Bobo : Thanks a lot Florence! Agree with you. Having a pet is like having another baby to take care of hihihi :D

@yunitarahmasari aka tatabonita : Thanks a lot Tata! I wish they think the same way as you think :D

owww...so cute bunnies...they seems alive and ready to hop out from the box :)
yeah, my kids are starting to ask for a puppy too but I prefer to wait until they are ready to bear responsibility in taking care of the pets. Otherwise, I am the one whom should carry the additional 'chores' LOL

@Journal Mommy Yenny : Thanks a lot Yen! I will be in trouble if they hop out from the box LOL :D I don't want to get extra 'baby' to take care of too ;)

So cute. I had lots of rabbits, too when I was small. They belonged to my grandparents who kept them for eating :( I never could eat them because they were so cute...

@Amaaris : Hi Ama! Agree, rabbit is too cute too eat :) Never had rabbit as a pet when I was a kid, but one of my friend got 2 and I love to feed them. Thanks Ama for your comment!
